In this pivotal role, you will lead the charge in creating and managing comprehensive Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), meticulously adapting curriculum to fit various learning styles, and employing a range of evidence-based instructional strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Deliver evidence-based specialized instruction in a variety of settings (e.g., small group, co-teaching, pull-out).
- Adapt and modify general education curriculum and instructional materials to meet individual student needs.
- Assess student progress regularly, maintain accurate records, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
- Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and parents to ensure coordinated support.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement positive behavior intervention strategies and provide social-emotional support.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development sessions.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local special education laws and regulations.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs.
Required Skills
- Valid Arkansas Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for licensure.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
- Strong knowledge of various disabilities and evidence-based instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis for student progress monitoring.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Special Education.
- Experience with specific special education programs or methodologies (e.g., ABA, Orton-Gillingham).
- Familiarity with local Little Rock School District special education policies and procedures.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
