Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.
- Develop, implement, and review individualised therapy programs tailored to client needs and goals.
- Provide direct and indirect therapy to clients of all ages in various settings (clinic, home, community).
- Educate and empower clients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies and swallowing safety.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and educators.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and contribute to service development initiatives.
- Adhere to all relevant professional codes of conduct, ethical guidelines, and safeguarding policies.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior therapists or support staff as required, fostering team growth and clinical excellence.
Required Skills
- HCPC registration (or eligibility for international candidates).
- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in assessing and treating a diverse caseload across different age groups.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Empathy, patience, and a client-centred approach.
- Understanding of relevant UK legislation and clinical guidelines for Speech and Language Therapy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications or specialisation in a particular area of Speech and Language Therapy (e.g., dysphagia, voice disorders, neurological rehabilitation).
- Experience with specific client groups or complex needs.
- Familiarity with digital therapy tools and assistive communication technologies.
