Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly dedicated, empathetic, and skilled Staff Nurse to enrich our vibrant and dynamic nursing team at Clinique Bon Pasteur in Curepipe. This pivotal role is central to our commitment to providing comprehensive and exceptional nursing care to patients across a diverse range of clinical settings within our facility, encompassing general wards, specialized treatment units, and bustling outpatient clinics.

As a Staff Nurse, your responsibilities will be multifaceted and impactful. You will be instrumental in meticulously assessing patient needs, collaborating with the medical team to formulate and diligently implement individualized care plans, safely administering prescribed medications, rigorously monitoring patient vital signs and overall conditions, and ensuring the accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of all patient interactions, observations, and interventions. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely, accurately, and timely, closely monitoring for effectiveness and potential adverse reactions.
  • Perform and assist with medical procedures, wound care, and other nursing interventions as prescribed by physicians.
  • Meticulously monitor and record vital signs, observe and interpret changes in patient condition, and promptly report critical findings to physicians.
  • Provide comprehensive health education to patients and their families regarding medical conditions, medication management, and post-discharge care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and comprehensive patient medical records, ensuring strict adherence to data protection and institutional policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of patient care and optimal outcomes.
  • Strictly adhere to all infection control protocols, safety standards, and hospital policies to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Offer emotional support and comfort to patients and their families, fostering a caring and reassuring environment.
  • Actively participate in continuing professional development activities, training sessions, and clinical audits to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Valid and current nursing license/registration recognized by the Nursing Council of Mauritius.
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven, hands-on experience as a Staff Nurse in a reputable hospital or clinic setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessment, safe medication administration, and fundamental life support (BLS) techniques.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Robust critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in clinical scenarios.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Profound compassionate and patient-centered approach to delivering care.
  • Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken) is essential for effective communication in Mauritius.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Prior experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Specialized training or certifications in areas such as emergency care, critical care, pediatric nursing, or surgical nursing.
