Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Stagehand to join our dedicated production crew, supporting an exciting range of theatre productions and concert events throughout Altrincham and the wider Manchester area. As a Stagehand, you will be instrumental in bringing artistic visions to life, ensuring seamless technical execution from load-in to strike. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the safe and efficient load-in and load-out of equipment, scenery, and props for various productions.
- Set up, operate, and strike stage equipment including rigging, lighting, sound, and special effects under supervision.
- Execute scene changes, prop placement, and technical cues precisely during live performances.
- Maintain and repair stage equipment, props, and set pieces as required.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and venue-specific guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with directors, performers, technicians, and other crew members.
- Ensure the backstage area is organized, clean, and safe at all times.
- Support the Stage Manager and technical teams in all aspects of production.
- Perform general maintenance tasks related to stage areas and equipment.
- Attend pre-production meetings and briefings as necessary.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Stagehand or in a similar live event production role (minimum 1 year).
- Strong understanding of stagecraft principles and theatre terminology.
- Ability to safely lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proactive attitude and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications in rigging, working at height, or first aid.
- Experience with various types of theatrical and concert venues.
- Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, or sound engineering principles.
- Valid UK driving license and access to transport.
