Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Stock Controller to join our expanding team in Streetly, Birmingham. As a Stock Controller specializing in Product Recording & Dispatch, you will be a pivotal part of our operations, ensuring the seamless flow of goods through our warehouse. This role demands exceptional accuracy, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Your primary focus will be on maintaining precise inventory records, managing the inbound and outbound movement of products, and ensuring that all items are correctly recorded and dispatched in a timely manner. This involves using our inventory management systems to track stock levels, process orders, and generate necessary documentation. You will be responsible for conducting regular stock counts, investigating discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions to maintain data integrity.
Beyond data entry, this role requires hands-on involvement with warehouse operations. You will coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure products are stored optimally, picked efficiently, and packed securely for dispatch. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with various internal departments, including procurement, sales, and logistics, to ensure stock availability meets customer demand and operational requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory records using the company's stock management system.
- Oversee the receiving, recording, and storage of incoming goods, ensuring correct quantity and quality.
- Coordinate the picking, packing, and dispatch of outgoing orders, verifying accuracy against order details.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts (cycle counts and periodic inventories) and reconcile discrepancies.
- Investigate stock variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including delivery notes and manifests.
- Liaise with internal departments (sales, procurement, logistics) to ensure optimal stock levels and timely order fulfilment.
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and quality standards within the warehouse.
- Identify and report any damaged or defective products, following company procedures for resolution.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of inventory control processes and procedures.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a stock control or warehouse management role.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with an excellent eye for detail.
- Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain meticulous records.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift license (Reach or Counterbalance).
