As a Stockroom Receiving Helper, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our stockroom. Your primary responsibilities will involve the accurate reception, inspection, and organization of incoming shipments. This position is the backbone of our inventory system, directly impacting our ability to serve our customers effectively and maintain optimal stock levels. You’ll be responsible for verifying contents against packing slips, noting any discrepancies or damages, and safely moving items to their designated storage locations. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments, verifying quantities and items against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Safely and efficiently move received goods to designated storage areas within the stockroom using appropriate equipment (e.g., pallet jacks).
- Organize and maintain a tidy, accessible, and safe stockroom environment, ensuring all items are properly labeled.
- Assist with inventory counts and participate in periodic physical inventory audits.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring items are accurately picked, packed, and labeled for dispatch.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Support other stockroom and warehouse duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) safely and regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and inventory management systems (training provided).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, retail, or stockroom environment (even if informal).
- Familiarity with inventory management principles.
