Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming merchandise, meticulously verifying accuracy against delivery notes and purchase orders.
- Efficiently sort, organize, and stock shelves and display areas according to store planograms, ensuring products are easily accessible and visually appealing.
- Monitor inventory levels on a daily basis, identifying low stock items, overstock situations, and potential discrepancies.
- Assist in conducting regular physical stock counts and audits to maintain accurate inventory records and minimize shrinkage.
- Rotate stock to ensure proper product freshness and minimize waste (adhering strictly to FIFO – First-In, First-Out principles).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working and shopping environment, including aisles, storage areas, and receiving docks, following all health and safety guidelines.
- Assist customers with locating products and provide general assistance as needed, upholding excellent customer service standards and a friendly demeanor.
- Report any damaged, expired, misplaced, or missing items to the supervisor promptly and accurately.
- Operate basic store equipment safely, such as hand trucks or trolleys, if required and after receiving proper training.
Required Skills
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills, essential for reading labels and performing simple calculations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks, especially when handling inventory.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and lifting/carrying merchandise up to 25 kg.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions consistently.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with colleagues and customers.
