Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and inspect all incoming merchandise and deliveries, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders and invoices.
  • Verify the quantity, quality, and condition of items, identifying and reporting any discrepancies, damages, or shortages immediately.
  • Organize and store received goods in designated areas, adhering to inventory management and safety protocols.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks) as required.
  • Process returns to vendors, preparing necessary documentation and coordinating pickups.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with sales, merchandising, and stockroom teams to facilitate efficient product flow and resolve issues.
  • Conduct periodic inventory counts and assist with stock reconciliation as needed.
  • Update inventory records and systems accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to merchandise handling and loss prevention.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a receiving, inventory, or stockroom role, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy merchandise (up to 25 kg) and stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry and inventory management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as per business needs.
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy in counting and recording.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in logistics or supply chain is a plus.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and POS systems.
  • Experience operating forklifts or other heavy machinery (certification preferred, but not required).
  • Basic understanding of retail operations and merchandising principles.
