Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Storekeeper to join our client’s team in Cassis, Port Louis. This pivotal role involves the comprehensive management of inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels, efficient warehouse operations, and seamless flow of goods. As a Storekeeper, you will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our client’s supply chain, from receiving and inspection to storage, dispatch, and meticulous record-keeping. Your day-to-day will involve a blend of physical handling of goods, diligent data entry, and proactive problem-solving to prevent discrepancies and optimize storage solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and adhering to best practices in inventory control, ensuring all incoming and outgoing stock is accurately documented and managed within our systems. This includes performing regular cycle counts, reconciling inventory, and identifying and investigating any variances. You will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and highly organized warehouse environment, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. Effective communication with suppliers, internal departments, and logistics partners will be crucial to ensure timely deliveries and dispatches, minimizing operational disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all incoming and outgoing stock, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.
  • Perform regular physical inventory counts (cycle counts, annual counts) and reconcile discrepancies against system records.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track stock movements, generate reports, and update inventory levels.
  • Inspect goods for damage or defects upon arrival and report any issues to relevant departments.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and storage solutions for maximum efficiency and accessibility.
  • Prepare goods for dispatch, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and accurate accompanying documentation.
  • Liaise effectively with suppliers, transporters, and internal departments (e.g., procurement, sales) regarding stock levels and delivery schedules.
  • Implement and maintain robust inventory control procedures to minimize losses and optimize stock turnover.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently, if certified and required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Storekeeper or in a similar inventory management role.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and basic computer applications (MS Office Suite).
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Valid forklift operator's license (if applicable to the specific warehouse operations).
  • Knowledge of local health, safety, and environmental regulations for warehouse operations.
