This critical role is designed for individuals passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable populations experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, and poverty within our community. As a Street Outreach Support Helper, you will be the frontline connection, building trust and providing immediate support, resources, and referrals to those in need on the streets of Aberdeen, Kamloops, and surrounding areas.
This isn’t just a job; it’s a calling to serve and advocate for individuals who often fall through the cracks. Your work will involve establishing empathetic relationships, listening without judgment, and empowering individuals to take steps towards stability and improved well-being. The environment can be challenging and unpredictable, requiring exceptional emotional intelligence, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to dignity and respect for all.
You will play a vital role in identifying individuals requiring urgent assistance, intervening in crisis situations with de-escalation techniques, and facilitating connections to appropriate community services. This includes working closely with local shelters, health authorities, social service agencies, and law enforcement when necessary, ensuring a coordinated approach to client care. Documentation of interactions, observations, and referrals will be an essential part of your daily routine, contributing to effective case management and program evaluation.
