Key Responsibilities
- Undertake structural analysis and design calculations for a variety of building types and structures using relevant software and manual methods.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and coordinated designs.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and surveys to assess existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
- Ensure all designs comply with British Standards, Eurocodes, Building Regulations, and health & safety legislation.
- Manage project deliverables, timelines, and budgets, reporting progress to Senior Engineers and Project Managers.
- Participate in client meetings, present design solutions, and address technical queries.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies within the team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree (BEng/MEng) in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in structural design within a consultancy environment.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, SCIA Engineer, Robot Structural Analysis, CSC Tedds).
- Strong understanding of British Standards and Eurocodes relevant to structural design.
- Demonstrable experience in the design of steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working towards Chartership with a relevant professional institution (ICE or IStructE).
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modelling) software and workflows.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and low-carbon construction methods.
- Experience in forensic engineering or structural assessment of existing buildings.
