Job Description

Are you a highly skilled and passionate Studio Sound Technician looking for an immediate opportunity to make a significant impact? Vivid Visual Media is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our fast-paced and creative team in Wolverton, Milton Keynes. This is a critical role that will see you taking the lead on all aspects of audio production within our studio environment, from initial recording to final mix and master. You will work across a variety of projects, including video production, podcasts, voiceovers, and live streams, ensuring that all audio elements meet our high standards of quality and clarity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain studio audio equipment, including microphones, mixing consoles, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and signal processors.
  • Record, edit, mix, and master audio for various projects, including video productions, podcasts, voiceovers, and live streams.
  • Set up and test audio equipment for studio sessions, ensuring optimal performance and sound quality.
  • Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and talent to understand and achieve desired audio outcomes.
  • Conduct sound checks and monitor audio levels during recording to prevent distortion and ensure clarity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with audio equipment and software promptly.
  • Implement best practices for audio workflow, file management, and archiving.
  • Stay updated with new audio technologies, software, and industry trends.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe studio environment.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of audio recording, mixing, and mastering techniques.
  • Expertise in microphone selection, placement, and soundproofing.
  • Solid knowledge of audio signal flow and connectivity.
  • Ability to troubleshoot audio hardware and software issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a critical ear for sound quality.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with live sound mixing and broadcast audio.
  • Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro) for audio post-production integration.
  • Portfolio or reel showcasing previous audio engineering and production work.
  • Certification in industry-standard audio software or hardware.
