Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct instructional support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher, individually or in small groups.
- Assist students with academic tasks, reinforcing concepts taught by the teacher and helping them stay on track with assignments.
- Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans for students with special needs.
- Help manage classroom behavior, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, including lunch, recess, and transitions.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparing materials, and maintaining a tidy learning space.
- Communicate effectively with teachers regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Adapt to various classroom settings, student needs, and school policies with professionalism and flexibility.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain necessary clearances for working with children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with students
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision
- Basic computer proficiency for administrative tasks
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in diverse educational settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or 60 college credits from an accredited institution
- Prior experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or childcare setting
- Experience working with students with special needs or diverse learning styles
- CPR and First Aid certification
