This crucial role is the face of our brand, interacting directly with customers, ensuring a positive shopping experience, and maintaining the highest standards of store presentation and efficiency. As a Supermarket Attendant, you will be instrumental in creating a welcoming atmosphere, assisting shoppers with their needs, managing stock, and contributing to the overall smooth operation of the store. Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating products, answering inquiries, and providing product information.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently at the cash register, handling cash, credit/debit cards, and other payment methods.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, including shelving, displays, and checkout areas.
  • Restock shelves, ensuring products are well-arranged, priced correctly, and rotated to minimize waste.
  • Monitor inventory levels, report discrepancies, and assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries.
  • Handle customer complaints or issues with professionalism and escalate complex problems to management when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene standards within the store.
  • Assist with promotional activities, special sales, and loyalty programs.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily operational goals and provide a seamless customer experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by store management to support overall store operations.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and approachable demeanor
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Basic numeracy skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a retail or customer service role
  • A minimum of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems
  • Knowledge of basic merchandising principles
