Job Description

Are you a passionate and certified Swimming Instructor looking to make a significant impact in a thriving community sports center? Career.zycto is excited to partner with a premier sports facility in Meru County, Kenya, to find a dedicated and enthusiastic Swimming Instructor. This is an incredible opportunity to shape the aquatic experiences of individuals across all age groups, from toddlers taking their first strokes to adults refining their technique. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate swimming lessons for individuals and groups, from beginner to advanced levels.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants in and around the pool area, strictly adhering to water safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to students, monitoring progress and adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
  • Assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of the pool area and equipment, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in swimming instruction and water safety.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and fun learning atmosphere that promotes confidence and skill development in the water.
  • Administer basic first aid and CPR when necessary, in accordance with certification standards.

Required Skills

  • Certified Swimming Instructor (e.g., KSF, Red Cross, STA, AUSTSWIM or equivalent)
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification
  • Proven experience teaching swimming to diverse age groups (children and adults)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of water safety rules and emergency procedures
  • Ability to adapt teaching styles to suit individual learning needs
  • Enthusiastic, patient, and motivating demeanor

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Education, or related field
  • Experience working in a professional sports center or recreational facility
  • Additional certifications in specialized aquatic programs (e.g., infant swimming, competitive coaching)
  • Fluency in Swahili and English
