Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud services.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Automate routine tasks and deployments using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) and configuration management tools.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate new systems and improve existing ones.
- Implement and enforce security policies and best practices, conducting regular audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Manage and administer virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams, resolving complex system-related incidents.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical incident response as required.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a Systems Engineer or similar role.
- Proficiency with Windows and Linux Server operating systems.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls).
- Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Experience with monitoring tools and incident management.
- Solid understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, CCNA, ITIL).
- Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
