Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior tailors and designers with various stages of garment production, including cutting, stitching, and finishing.
  • Prepare fabrics for cutting, including measuring, marking, and ensuring correct grain lines and pattern placement.
  • Operate basic sewing machines (straight stitch, overlocker) for initial construction and finishing tasks.
  • Perform quality checks on materials and finished garment components, identifying and reporting any defects.
  • Organize and maintain the studio workspace, ensuring tools and materials are clean, tidy, and readily accessible.
  • Support with inventory management of fabrics, notions, and supplies, reporting low stock levels.
  • Carry out pressing and steaming of garments and fabric pieces as required.
  • Learn and adapt to new techniques and processes introduced by the lead tailor or designer.
  • Adhere strictly to production deadlines and quality standards.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of tailoring and garment construction principles.
  • Proficiency in operating a sewing machine (straight stitch and overlock).
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of fabric types and handling.
  • Punctual and reliable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (even informal) in a tailoring shop or fashion studio.
  • Vocational training or certification in fashion design, tailoring, or garment technology.
