Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior tailors and designers with various stages of garment production, including cutting, stitching, and finishing.
- Prepare fabrics for cutting, including measuring, marking, and ensuring correct grain lines and pattern placement.
- Operate basic sewing machines (straight stitch, overlocker) for initial construction and finishing tasks.
- Perform quality checks on materials and finished garment components, identifying and reporting any defects.
- Organize and maintain the studio workspace, ensuring tools and materials are clean, tidy, and readily accessible.
- Support with inventory management of fabrics, notions, and supplies, reporting low stock levels.
- Carry out pressing and steaming of garments and fabric pieces as required.
- Learn and adapt to new techniques and processes introduced by the lead tailor or designer.
- Adhere strictly to production deadlines and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of tailoring and garment construction principles.
- Proficiency in operating a sewing machine (straight stitch and overlock).
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
