Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive tax advice to clients on national and international tax matters, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Prepare and meticulously review tax declarations for corporate and individual clients, including corporate income tax, VAT, trade tax, and personal income tax.
  • Develop and implement innovative tax planning strategies to optimize client tax burdens and minimize risks.
  • Represent clients effectively before tax authorities during audits, inquiries, and appeal processes.
  • Analyze complex tax issues, conduct thorough research, and provide practical, legally sound solutions.
  • Stay continuously informed about changes in tax legislation, judicial decisions, and administrative regulations, proactively advising clients on implications.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to gather necessary financial data and documentation for accurate tax filings.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and annual reports, ensuring adherence to German tax laws.
  • Mentor junior staff, sharing knowledge and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 4 years) as a Tax Consultant or in a similar tax advisory role.
  • Strong, in-depth understanding of German tax law (EStG, KStG, UStG, AO) and relevant regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant tax software and advanced skills in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex tax matters clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize tasks, and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken, to effectively serve a diverse client base.
  • Client-focused mindset with a steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality, personalized service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification as a Tax Advisor (Steuerberater) in Germany.
  • Experience with international tax law (e.g., Double Taxation Agreements, transfer pricing documentation).
  • Knowledge of specific industry taxation, such as real estate, technology, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with DATEV software for accounting and tax preparation.
  • Additional language skills are considered a valuable asset.
