Homabay Tourist Hotel is looking for a dedicated and professional Full-Time Taxi Driver to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be the first and last impression for many of our esteemed guests, providing safe, timely, and comfortable transportation services. Your responsibilities will extend beyond simply driving; you will be an ambassador for our hotel, offering friendly assistance, local insights, and ensuring every journey is a pleasant one. We are seeking an individual with an impeccable driving record, a strong commitment to passenger safety, and a natural ability to deliver outstanding customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport hotel guests to and from various destinations, including airports, local attractions, business meetings, and other requested locations within Homa Bay County and nearby regions.
- Adhere strictly to all Kenyan traffic laws and regulations, hotel safety policies, and best driving practices at all times.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting guests with luggage, opening and closing doors, and offering friendly and professional interactions.
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the assigned vehicle, both interior and exterior, ensuring it is always in pristine condition.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, and promptly report any mechanical issues or damage to the management.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes, utilizing GPS and extensive local knowledge to minimize travel time while ensuring guest comfort and safety.
- Handle cash and electronic payments accurately, providing receipts as required and maintaining meticulous records of transactions.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, including mileage, destinations, passenger details, and departure/arrival times.
- Assist guests with special requests or emergencies, liaising with hotel management and relevant departments as necessary to resolve situations efficiently.
- Stay updated on local road conditions, traffic patterns, and events that may affect travel times, advising guests accordingly to manage expectations.
Required Skills
- Valid Kenyan Driving License (Class BCE or equivalent) with an excellent driving history.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a hospitality or transport service role.
- Excellent knowledge of Homa Bay County road networks and surrounding areas, including popular attractions and key locations.
- Impeccable driving record with no major accidents or traffic violations.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills, with a polite and professional demeanor.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and Kiswahili, both verbally and in writing.
- High level of punctuality, reliability, and responsibility, with a commitment to meeting schedules.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (e.g., checking oil, tires, fluid levels) and troubleshooting minor issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in Defensive Driving from a recognized institution.
- Experience driving luxury vehicles or in VIP transport services.
- Basic first aid and emergency response training.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and ride-hailing applications.
- Secondary education certificate (KCSE or equivalent).
