Job Description
Are you a skilled and customer-focused driver with an intimate knowledge of the Lesotho Highlands? Katse Lodge is seeking an experienced and reliable Taxi Driver to join our dynamic team on an immediate start basis. In this pivotal role, you will be the face of our lodge for many of our guests, providing safe, comfortable, and efficient transportation services. This isn’t just about driving; it’s about delivering an integral part of the Katse Lodge experience, ensuring every journey is smooth, safe, and enjoyable from start to finish. You will be responsible for transporting guests to and from designated locations within Katse and the surrounding Thaba-Tseka district, which may include transfers from Maseru Moshoeshoe I International Airport, other entry points, local excursions to key attractions around the Katse Dam, and potentially inter-lodge travel. Beyond the wheel, your role will involve conducting routine vehicle checks, ensuring the cleanliness and optimal functioning of your assigned vehicle, and adhering to strict safety protocols and traffic regulations at all times. You will also serve as an informal ambassador for Katse Lodge and the region, providing helpful information, recommendations, and a welcoming demeanor to all passengers. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport guests to and from Katse Lodge and various destinations in the Thaba-Tseka district.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Provide friendly, professional, and helpful service to all passengers, including assistance with luggage.
- Maintain accurate records of journeys, fuel consumption, and vehicle mileage.
- Assist guests with local information, directions, and recommendations when appropriate.
- Manage time effectively to ensure punctuality for all scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs.
- Handle unexpected situations or emergencies calmly and professionally, following established procedures.
- Communicate effectively with the lodge reception and management regarding schedules and any issues.
Required Skills
- Valid professional driver's license (e.g., Code 10/EB in Lesotho equivalent)
- Excellent driving record with no major violations
- Proven experience in passenger transportation or taxi services
- Thorough knowledge of roads and routes in Katse and the broader Thaba-Tseka district/Lesotho Highlands.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Sesotho
- Punctual, reliable, and responsible work ethic
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (e.g., checking oil, water, tire pressure)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and Defensive Driving certification.
- Previous experience working in the hospitality or tourism sector.
- Knowledge of other local languages is an advantage.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and local maps.
