As a Private and Shuttle Driver, you will be responsible for transporting individuals and groups, ranging from discerning private clients requiring personalized transfers to corporate guests needing efficient shuttle services, and tourists embarking on island explorations. This role demands more than just driving; it requires a commitment to exemplary customer service, proactive communication, and an unwavering adherence to safety protocols. You will operate a variety of our well-maintained vehicles, ensuring they are always presented in pristine condition.
Your daily duties will include meticulously planning routes, adhering to strict schedules, assisting passengers with luggage, and maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion. You will be expected to possess an intimate knowledge of Mauritius’ road networks, key attractions, hotels, and business districts to navigate efficiently and provide an informative and pleasant experience for passengers. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport clients for private transfers, airport shuttles, and scheduled group movements.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations at all times.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring all vehicles are clean, fueled, and in excellent working condition.
- Assist passengers with loading and unloading luggage and provide courteous assistance as needed.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, and passenger details.
- Plan efficient routes to ensure timely arrivals and departures, accounting for traffic and road conditions.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to passenger inquiries and ensuring a comfortable and pleasant journey.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management regarding schedules, delays, or any operational issues.
- Handle cash and electronic payments accurately, issuing receipts as required.
- Represent Maki Car Rental professionally at all times, maintaining a polished appearance and respectful demeanor.
Required Skills
- Valid Category B (or equivalent) driving license specific to Mauritius with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience in a commercial or passenger transport setting.
- Thorough knowledge of Mauritius' road network, traffic regulations, and key locations (e.g., airports, hotels, tourist sites).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation.
- Punctuality, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
- Good physical condition, capable of assisting with luggage and remaining alert for extended periods.
- Fluency in English and Mauritian Creole.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a private chauffeur, shuttle driver, or tour driver.
- Knowledge of an additional language (e.g., French, German, Mandarin).
- Defensive driving certification or advanced driving course completion.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge for minor checks.
