Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers with lesson preparation, classroom activities, and delivery.
  • Provide individualized or small group academic support to students requiring additional help.
  • Help maintain a positive, safe, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with special education requirements.
  • Prepare, organize, and manage instructional materials, learning aids, and classroom resources.
  • Monitor student progress, record observations, and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Assist with classroom management, supervision during activities, and transitions.
  • Facilitate student engagement in various learning activities and projects.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, teachers, and parents/guardians (as directed).
  • Perform administrative tasks such as grading simple assignments, maintaining attendance records, and data entry.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with children and adolescents.

  • Previous experience (paid or volunteer) working with children or youth in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Proficiency in French (bilingualism is considered a significant asset in Montreal).
  • Familiarity with strategies for supporting students with specific learning challenges.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
