Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our vibrant educational team in Baringo County. As a Teacher Assistant, you will play a crucial supporting role, working closely with lead teachers to facilitate engaging lessons, manage classroom activities, and provide individualized attention to students. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in preparing and delivering instructional materials and activities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students requiring additional assistance.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch breaks, and school-organized field trips.
  • Assist with classroom management, reinforcing positive behavior and school rules consistently.
  • Support students with special needs, adhering to individualized education plans (IEPs) as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Perform various clerical duties such as grading papers, recording grades, filing, and preparing teaching aids.
  • Communicate effectively with lead teachers regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
  • Participate actively in professional development opportunities and staff meetings to enhance skills and collaboration.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office suite, email, and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and adapt quickly to changing classroom needs.
  • A foundational understanding of child development principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related field.
  • Prior experience (paid or voluntary) in a classroom, childcare setting, or with youth programs.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior intervention strategies and classroom management techniques.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
