Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in preparing and delivering instructional materials and activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students requiring additional assistance.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch breaks, and school-organized field trips.
- Assist with classroom management, reinforcing positive behavior and school rules consistently.
- Support students with special needs, adhering to individualized education plans (IEPs) as directed by the lead teacher.
- Perform various clerical duties such as grading papers, recording grades, filing, and preparing teaching aids.
- Communicate effectively with lead teachers regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Participate actively in professional development opportunities and staff meetings to enhance skills and collaboration.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office suite, email, and online learning platforms.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and adapt quickly to changing classroom needs.
- A foundational understanding of child development principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related field.
- Prior experience (paid or voluntary) in a classroom, childcare setting, or with youth programs.
- Knowledge of positive behavior intervention strategies and classroom management techniques.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
