Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons and educational activities.
  • Provide individualized or small group instruction to students needing extra support or enrichment.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Monitor student behavior and assist in classroom management, promoting positive social interactions.
  • Prepare instructional materials, visual aids, and classroom displays as directed by the teacher.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, including recess, lunch, and field trips.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators regarding student progress and concerns.
  • Support students with special needs by adapting activities and providing accommodations.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as grading papers, record-keeping, and organizing student portfolios.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with educational software.
  • Ability to follow directions and implement classroom strategies effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with diverse student populations or in multicultural environments.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
