Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in supervising students during classroom activities, recess, and other school functions.
- Help prepare and organize instructional materials, classroom displays, and learning resources.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students requiring extra assistance with lessons or assignments.
- Support the implementation of classroom management strategies to maintain a positive and orderly learning environment.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as taking attendance, collecting homework, and grading simple assignments.
- Facilitate student engagement in learning activities and encourage participation.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the classroom throughout the day.
- Communicate effectively with teachers regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Assist students with personal needs, as required, respecting their dignity and privacy.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and school events as directed.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent (CXC/CSEC passes preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Some prior experience volunteering or working with children (e.g., tutoring, childcare, youth groups)
- First Aid and CPR certification
