Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant for School Support in Thika, Kiambu County. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
- Provide individualized and small group support to students requiring extra attention or clarification.
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, disciplined learning environment.
- Prepare educational materials, displays, and resources as directed by the teacher.
- Supervise students during non-classroom activities, including breaks, lunch, and extracurriculars.
- Assist with the assessment and tracking of student progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
- Support students with special educational needs or learning difficulties, adapting tasks as required.
- Ensure the classroom is tidy, organized, and conducive to learning.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and sometimes parents regarding student welfare and progress.
- Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Minimum KCSE D+ or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with children and adults.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Proactive attitude and strong organizational skills.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Development, Education, or a related field.
