Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an experienced and meticulous Technical Writer to join our growing team in Easton, Bristol. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining a wide range of technical documentation, including user manuals, training guides, online help content, and internal process documents. You will play a crucial part in ensuring our products and services are easily understood and effectively utilized by our diverse audience, from end-users to technical professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit high-quality technical documentation, including user guides, training manuals, online help systems, FAQs, and API documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, product managers, and other teams to gather information and ensure accuracy of content.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly language for various target audiences.
  • Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect product changes and enhancements.
  • Adhere to established style guides, terminology, and branding standards to ensure consistency across all documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for documentation improvement and implement best practices for content organization and delivery.
  • Participate in product reviews and testing to ensure documentation accuracy and usability.
  • Manage documentation projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and delivery.
  • Conduct audience analysis and user research to tailor content effectively.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer in a software or technology environment (minimum 3 years).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Confluence, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar.
  • Strong ability to understand complex technical concepts and present them clearly and concisely.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS).
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with DITA or other XML-based authoring environments.
  • Basic understanding of programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) or API documentation.
  • Experience creating multimedia content (e.g., video tutorials, infographics).
  • Knowledge of UX principles and how they apply to technical documentation.
  • Portfolio of relevant technical writing samples.
