Job Description

Airtel Rwanda is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecom Line Installer to join our growing team in Remera, Kigali. In this critical role, you will be on the front lines, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of our telecommunications lines, ensuring our customers experience seamless and reliable service. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver high-quality internet, voice, and data services across the region. This position requires a professional who is not only technically proficient but also committed to safety standards and customer satisfaction. You will troubleshoot connectivity issues, perform routine inspections, and work with various types of cabling and equipment, including fiber optic and copper lines. Key Responsibilities
- Install, connect, and configure telecommunication lines and equipment (e.g., fiber optic cables, copper lines, modems, routers) at customer premises and network sites.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative measures on existing telecom infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve connectivity issues, service interruptions, and technical faults efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure all installations and repairs adhere to company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Operate and maintain various tools and testing equipment, including multimeters, optical power meters, and cable locators.
- Document all work performed, including installations, repairs, and service changes, accurately and promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service, explaining technical details clearly and respectfully, and ensuring customer satisfaction with the completed work.
- Collaborate with dispatch, network operations, and other technical teams to coordinate installations and resolve complex issues.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in telecommunications installation, maintenance, or a similar field.
- Strong technical aptitude and understanding of telecom cabling (fiber optic, copper) and network components.
- Proficiency in using installation tools, test equipment, and safety gear.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and wiring schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift heavy equipment, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience with specific Airtel network technologies and systems.
- Familiarity with local Rwandan telecommunications regulations.
- Prior experience working in the Remera or Kigali area.
