Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Telecommunications Specialist to join our dynamic team in Jordan Creek, West Des Moines. This full-time role is critical to maintaining the integrity, efficiency, and security of our advanced communication systems. As a Telecommunications Specialist, you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and ongoing management of our voice, data, and video networks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability across all operations.
Your day-to-day will involve a diverse range of tasks, from troubleshooting complex network issues to collaborating with IT teams on system upgrades and new deployments. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of telecommunications principles, including VoIP technologies, network protocols (TCP/IP, SIP, MPLS), and current industry best practices. You will be responsible for ensuring that our communication infrastructure supports business continuity and growth, adapting to evolving technological landscapes and security threats.
This position demands meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative unit. You will also play a key role in documentation, creating and maintaining detailed records of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and maintain telecommunications systems, including VoIP, traditional telephony, and data networks.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolution of voice and data network issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Monitor network performance and security, identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities and performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate telecommunications solutions with existing IT infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, procedures, and incident responses.
- Manage relationships with telecommunications vendors, evaluating new products and services to enhance system capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and security protocols.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and junior staff on telecommunications-related matters.
- Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support and critical system incidents.
- Conduct regular system audits and implement preventative measures to ensure system stability and reliability.
Required Skills
- Expertise in VoIP technologies and protocols (SIP, H.323, RTP).
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and routing/switching.
- Proficiency with telecommunications hardware and software from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Avaya, Microsoft Teams Phone System).
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network and telephony issues.
- Understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP Collaboration, CompTIA Network+, or similar.
- Experience with cloud-based communication platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom Phone).
- Familiarity with contact center technologies (ACD, IVR).
- Project management experience in telecommunications deployments.
