Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive initial assessments to evaluate clients' mental health needs, history, and goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to clients' specific challenges.
  • Provide individual and potentially group counseling and psychotherapy using a variety of therapeutic modalities.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to all ethical guidelines and legal requirements pertaining to mental health practice in Scotland.
  • Monitor client progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and facilitate referrals to external resources when appropriate.
  • Engage in crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed, ensuring client safety and well-being.

Required Skills

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Full registration or accreditation with a recognized professional body (e.g., BACP, COSCA, HCPC).
  • Proven experience in delivering counseling and mental health therapy to diverse populations.
  • Strong understanding of ethical guidelines and professional standards in mental health care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and therapeutic relationships effectively.
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and developing treatment plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialization in specific therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, EMDR, Psychodynamic Therapy).
  • Experience working with trauma, addiction, or specific demographic groups.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Fluency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
