Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive initial assessments to evaluate clients' mental health needs, history, and goals.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to clients' specific challenges.
- Provide individual and potentially group counseling and psychotherapy using a variety of therapeutic modalities.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision and professional development activities.
- Adhere to all ethical guidelines and legal requirements pertaining to mental health practice in Scotland.
- Monitor client progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and facilitate referrals to external resources when appropriate.
- Engage in crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed, ensuring client safety and well-being.
Required Skills
- Masters or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Full registration or accreditation with a recognized professional body (e.g., BACP, COSCA, HCPC).
- Proven experience in delivering counseling and mental health therapy to diverse populations.
- Strong understanding of ethical guidelines and professional standards in mental health care.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Ability to build rapport and therapeutic relationships effectively.
- Proficiency in conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and developing treatment plans.
