Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of Therapy Assistants across various disciplines.
- Oversee and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, patient-centred therapeutic interventions.
- Ensure strict adherence to clinical guidelines, organisational policies, and professional standards.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate professional growth for team members.
- Coordinate and manage team schedules, rotas, and equitable workload distribution.
- Identify specific training needs within the team and facilitate relevant professional development opportunities.
- Participate actively in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for new Therapy Assistants.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of service improvement initiatives.
- Liaise effectively with senior therapists, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders to optimize patient care pathways.
- Manage therapeutic equipment and resources efficiently, ensuring their safety, availability, and proper maintenance.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential patient records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years proven supervisory or leadership experience within a therapy or rehabilitation setting.
- Extensive hands-on experience as a Therapy Assistant (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language or similar).
- Strong understanding of therapeutic principles, patient care pathways, and rehabilitation processes.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively mentor, motivate, and develop staff members.
- Proficiency in staff scheduling, rota management, and workload distribution.
- Sound knowledge of clinical governance, professional standards, and relevant healthcare legislation.
- Ability to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative, and function collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient in using relevant IT systems for record-keeping, communication, and administrative tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent relevant vocational qualification.
- A formal Leadership and Management qualification or accredited training.
- Experience working in a variety of clinical settings (e.g., community, acute care, neurological rehabilitation).
- Current First Aid certification.
- In-depth knowledge of local health and social care policies and frameworks specific to the York region.
