Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Therapy Assistants, ensuring high standards of practice and professional development.
- Allocate and manage team caseloads, ensuring efficient resource utilisation and timely delivery of therapy interventions.
- Conduct regular supervision, performance reviews, and contribute to the training and induction of new team members.
- Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, health and safety regulations, and organisational policies and procedures.
- Provide direct patient care as required, demonstrating exemplary therapeutic techniques and patient interaction.
- Act as a key liaison between Therapy Assistants, qualified Therapists, patients, and their families.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and data collection for reporting.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, offering insights and updates on therapy assistant contributions.
- Manage team rota and leave requests, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet service demands.
- Promote a positive, supportive, and inclusive team culture.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Therapy Assistant (e.g., Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy).
- Demonstrable leadership or supervisory experience within a healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance and patient safety principles.
- Proficiency in patient assessment, intervention delivery, and documentation.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in relevant IT systems and software for patient records and scheduling.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care, or a relevant clinical area.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with caseload management and resource allocation.
- Familiarity with local health and social care pathways in Edinburgh.
- Training in specific therapeutic modalities (e.g., neurological rehabilitation, complex care).
