Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise all drilling operations, ensuring compliance with established procedures, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Lead, mentor, and manage drilling crews, fostering a productive, safe, and collaborative work environment.
- Plan and execute drilling programs, including rig moves, well site preparation, and material coordination.
- Monitor drilling parameters, analyze data, and implement adjustments to optimize drilling performance and efficiency.
- Conduct regular inspections of drilling equipment, ensuring proper maintenance, repair, and operational readiness.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all personnel.
- Prepare comprehensive daily reports, logs, and other documentation related to drilling activities, personnel, and equipment status.
- Manage inventory of drilling consumables and equipment, coordinating with supply chain for timely procurement.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the rig crew, communicating effectively with engineers, geologists, and management.
- Respond to and manage emergency situations, demonstrating strong crisis management and decision-making skills.
- Ensure adherence to budget and schedule constraints for all drilling operations.
- Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational safety and efficiency.
Required Skills
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in drilling operations, with at least 3 years in a Toolpusher or similar supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse crews.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Proficiency in interpreting drilling data and implementing operational adjustments.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and ideally German.
- Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations in drilling.
- Valid certifications in well control (e.g., IADC WellSharp or IWCF Level 4).
- Technical aptitude for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on drilling rigs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Petroleum Engineering, Drilling Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with various drilling methodologies (e.g., conventional, directional, horizontal).
- Familiarity with German industrial safety standards and regulations.
- Proficiency with drilling software and reporting systems.
- Emergency first aid and fire safety certifications.
