Key Responsibilities
- Safely and effectively set up, maintain, and remove traffic control zones, including signs, cones, and barricades, according to MTO Book 7 standards.
- Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic using hand signals and communication devices to ensure smooth flow and minimize disruptions.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, pedestrians, and construction personnel regarding traffic procedures and potential hazards.
- Monitor traffic patterns and adjust control measures as necessary to maintain optimal safety and efficiency.
- Report any safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
- Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn correctly and maintained in good condition.
- Work cooperatively with fellow team members and site contractors to achieve project goals.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- High level of safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions and a physically demanding outdoor environment.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for night shift schedules.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 50 lbs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification (e.g., Book 7 OTM).
- Previous experience in a traffic control, construction, or general labour role.
- Valid G Class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
