Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and strategic Transportation Manager to join our client’s team in Dardenne Prairie, O’Fallon. This is a pivotal role where you will be instrumental in optimizing our client’s supply chain, ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective movement of goods, and leading a dedicated team of logistics professionals.
As the Transportation Manager, you will take ownership of all aspects of transportation operations, from daily dispatching and route optimization to long-term strategic planning and vendor management. You will be responsible for enhancing operational efficiency, reducing transit times, minimizing transportation costs, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. Your leadership will directly impact customer satisfaction by guaranteeing timely deliveries and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage transportation strategies to optimize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service quality.
- Oversee daily transportation operations, including route planning, dispatching, and tracking of shipments.
- Manage and negotiate contracts with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers to secure favorable rates and terms.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including DOT, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of transportation coordinators and drivers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software to monitor performance, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with warehousing, inventory, and sales departments to synchronize logistics operations and meet customer demands.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and training programs to minimize accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, analyze expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess transportation efficiency and service levels, reporting regularly to senior management.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in transportation management or logistics leadership.
- Proven experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other logistics software.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, safety compliance, and freight laws.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate with carriers and manage vendor relationships effectively.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or an MBA.
- Certifications such as CTL (Certified in Transportation and Logistics) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional).
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies in a logistics environment.
- Familiarity with specific regional transportation networks and challenges in the Missouri area.
- Experience managing a private fleet in addition to third-party logistics.
