Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Transportation Planner to join our vibrant team in Downtown Helena, MT. This is a pivotal role for an individual passionate about shaping the future of urban mobility, infrastructure development, and community connectivity. As a Transportation Planner, you will play a crucial part in analyzing existing transportation systems, identifying areas for improvement, and developing innovative solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability across the region. You will contribute to comprehensive plans for roads, public transit, bicycle, and pedestrian networks, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our growing community while adhering to environmental and regulatory standards.

Your work will involve a blend of technical analysis, policy development, and extensive stakeholder engagement. You will utilize advanced planning tools, including GIS software and traffic modeling, to gather data, evaluate scenarios, and present clear, data-driven recommendations. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive studies and analyses of existing transportation systems, identifying deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and evaluate transportation plans, policies, and programs, including those related to public transit, bicycle/pedestrian facilities, and road networks.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and technical documents for internal teams, stakeholders, and public hearings.
  • Utilize GIS and other spatial analysis tools to map, analyze, and visualize transportation data and proposed solutions.
  • Facilitate and participate in public outreach meetings, workshops, and community engagement activities to gather input and build consensus.
  • Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as private sector partners, on various transportation projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor project progress, budget, and schedules to ensure timely and effective delivery of planning objectives.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation planning and urban development.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, Geography, or a related field
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for mapping and spatial analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with transportation modeling software and data analysis techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reports, presentations, and public speaking
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local transportation planning regulations and guidelines
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with a detail-oriented approach

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • AICP certification (American Institute of Certified Planners)
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other design software
