Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic and client-focused individual with a passion for travel? Shamal Travels is seeking a dynamic and experienced Travel Agent to join our vibrant team in Beau Bassin-Rose Hill. In this pivotal role, you will be the first point of contact for our valued clients, guiding them through the exciting journey of planning their perfect trip. You will be responsible for understanding their preferences, offering expert advice on destinations, accommodations, and travel logistics, and meticulously arranging all aspects of their itineraries. From booking flights and hotels to securing rental cars, crafting bespoke tour packages, and providing critical travel insurance options, your expertise will ensure a smooth, enjoyable, and memorable experience for every client. This role demands exceptional communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Consult clients to understand their travel preferences, budget, and specific requirements.
- Plan, organize, and book flights, accommodations, car rentals, cruises, tours, and other travel components.
- Provide expert advice on destinations, travel routes, local customs, and visa/entry requirements.
- Research and present various travel options, ensuring best value and quality for clients.
- Process bookings, issue tickets, and handle all necessary documentation with meticulous attention to detail.
- Handle customer inquiries, changes, and cancellations efficiently and professionally.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, airlines, hotels, and other travel suppliers.
- Stay informed about travel industry trends, new destinations, and health and safety regulations.
- Achieve and exceed sales targets and contribute to the overall profitability of the branch.
- Promote and sell ancillary travel products such as travel insurance and guided tours.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Travel Agent or similar role.
- Proven sales ability and customer service excellence.
- Exceptional knowledge of major GDS (Global Distribution System) such as Amadeus, Galileo, or Sabre.
- Strong understanding of international travel regulations, fares, and ticketing procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- IATA UFTAA diploma or equivalent certification.
- Experience with corporate travel management.
- Knowledge of other languages relevant to the Mauritian tourism market.
- Familiarity with CRM systems for client management.
