Key Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to understand their travel needs, preferences, and budget, providing expert advice and personalized recommendations.
- Research, recommend, and book various travel arrangements including flights, accommodations, transportation, cruises, tours, and activities.
- Prepare detailed itineraries, travel documents, visas, and necessary advisories for clients, ensuring all information is accurate and timely.
- Process bookings, payments, and cancellations efficiently and accurately using Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and other booking platforms.
- Provide comprehensive information on destinations, travel restrictions, health requirements, and travel insurance options.
- Resolve any travel-related issues, complaints, or changes promptly and professionally, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and travel suppliers, fostering loyalty and securing competitive rates.
- Actively promote and upsell travel packages, supplementary services, and loyalty programs to maximize sales.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new destinations, and technological advancements in the travel sector.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Travel Consultant or in a similar sales role within the travel industry.
- Proficiency in at least one Global Distribution System (GDS) such as Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo.
- Excellent knowledge of domestic and international travel destinations, travel trends, and industry regulations.
- Strong sales and customer service skills with a client-centric approach and a passion for travel.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Tourism, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Certifications from IATA or recognized travel associations.
- Fluency in an additional language (e.g., Swahili, French) is a significant advantage.
- Experience with CRM software for client management and follow-up.
