Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy vehicles, including trucks and trailers, to transport freight and goods across designated routes within Mauritius.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Load and unload cargo safely, securing freight properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, transportation regulations, and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, rest periods, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and internal teams regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any operational issues.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods, planning routes efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Handle all relevant shipping documents, such as bills of lading, manifests, and delivery receipts.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, representing the company professionally.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or incidents immediately to supervisors.
- Perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks as needed and keep the vehicle clean and organized.
Required Skills
- Valid heavy vehicle driving license (e.g., Class 3/4/5 in Mauritius) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional truck driving experience, preferably in freight or logistics.
- Proficient knowledge of Mauritian road networks and traffic regulations.
- Ability to operate various types of trucks and trailers.
- Strong understanding of load securement techniques and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness to perform duties such as loading/unloading, tarping, and inspections.
- Punctual, reliable, and a strong work ethic.
