Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled and responsible Full-Time Truck Drivers to join our dynamic team based in Rusape, Manicaland Province. As a Truck Driver with Swift Transport, you will be a crucial part of our logistics network, responsible for the safe and timely delivery of various goods across designated routes within Zimbabwe. This role requires a professional with a strong understanding of road safety regulations, vehicle maintenance, and customer service. You will operate a range of heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring all documentation is accurately completed and that goods are transported efficiently while adhering to company policies and industry standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy and extra-heavy commercial vehicles, including articulated trucks, to transport goods over long and short distances.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all components are in good working order and reporting any defects promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and government regulations (e.g., hours of service, weight limits).
  • Load and unload cargo safely, ensuring proper securing and handling of goods to prevent damage during transit.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving activities, cargo details, delivery times, and vehicle maintenance records.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and other team members regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any issues encountered.
  • Represent Swift Transport professionally at all times, demonstrating excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries.
  • Manage and protect company assets, including the vehicle, equipment, and cargo.
  • Be prepared for varying working hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational requirements.
  • Assist with minor roadside repairs if safe and feasible, or coordinate with maintenance teams for more significant issues.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License (Heavy Duty Vehicles) with an unblemished record.
  • At least 3 years of verifiable commercial truck driving experience.
  • Proven knowledge of Zimbabwean traffic laws and road safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and securing cargo.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle checks and minor troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Defensive driving certificate.
  • Experience with various types of cargo and vehicle configurations (e.g., flatbeds, curtain-siders, tankers).
  • Familiarity with GPS devices and route optimization software.
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
