Key Responsibilities
- Assist truck drivers with the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and securing of various types of cargo according to established safety protocols and company standards.
- Verify the accuracy of shipment contents against delivery manifests and packing slips, meticulously noting any discrepancies, damages, or missing items.
- Actively participate in navigating routes effectively with the driver, understanding delivery schedules, and suggesting optimizations for efficiency.
- Help maintain the cleanliness, organization, and orderliness of the truck cabin and cargo area to ensure a professional and safe working environment.
- Operate essential material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks and hand trucks, safely and efficiently (comprehensive training will be provided).
- Communicate professionally and courteously with customers during deliveries, ensuring a positive and seamless experience.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and comprehensive safety regulations at all times.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle in conjunction with the driver, reporting any maintenance issues.
- Be prepared to work diligently in various weather conditions and adapt effectively to dynamic work environments and changing schedules.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly and safely.
- Strong physical stamina and endurance for extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures or a strong willingness to learn and rigorously adhere to them.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or physically demanding role is considered an asset but is not mandatory.
- Familiarity with the College Heights and broader Prince George area geography.
- A demonstrated desire and commitment to pursue a Class 1 or Class 3 commercial driver's license in the future.
- Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR certification.
