Job Description
Unitrans Lesotho is urgently seeking dedicated and experienced Truck Drivers to join our dynamic team in Tsikoane, Leribe. This is an immediate hiring opportunity for individuals who are passionate about safe and efficient transportation, possess a strong work ethic, and are committed to upholding the highest standards of professional driving. As a Truck Driver, you will be a crucial link in our supply chain, responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods across various routes within Lesotho and potentially cross-border. You will operate a range of heavy vehicles, adhering strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks to transport goods and materials over various distances and routes.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories such as tires, lights, brakes, and cargo.
- Ensure all cargo is properly secured and accounted for before, during, and after transit.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery manifests, and all required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and clients regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any issues encountered.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, reporting any malfunctions or necessary repairs.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Represent Unitrans Lesotho professionally at all times while on the road and interacting with customers.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards.
Required Skills
- Valid Heavy-Duty Driver's License (Code 14/EC or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable commercial truck driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major accidents or violations
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and road safety regulations
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
- Physical fitness and ability to handle long hours of driving and occasional manual labor
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional driving certificate or advanced defensive driving training
- Experience with various types of heavy vehicles (e.g., articulated trucks, tankers)
- Familiarity with routes within Lesotho and surrounding regions
- Hazmat endorsement or experience with dangerous goods transportation (advantageous)
- Forklift operating experience (beneficial)
