Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking experienced and dedicated Truck Drivers to join our dynamic logistics team in Merthyr Tydfil. This vital role involves both long-distance hauls and local deliveries, ensuring the timely and safe transport of a diverse range of goods across Wales and the wider UK. We are looking for individuals who possess excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety regulations, and a reliable work ethic. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for upholding our high standards of service, maintaining vehicle integrity, and fostering positive relationships with our clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) for both long-distance and local deliveries, adhering to planned routes and schedules.
  • Perform diligent pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring roadworthiness and promptly reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Adhere strictly to all national and local road safety regulations, driving laws, and company transportation policies.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including logbooks, delivery notes, expense reports, and digital tachograph entries.
  • Manage the safe and secure loading and unloading of goods, utilizing appropriate equipment and ensuring cargo stability.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, clients, and fellow team members regarding delivery status, delays, and potential issues.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and basic operational maintenance of the vehicle, ensuring a professional appearance and optimal performance.

Required Skills

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) driving license.
  • Full UK Driving License with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
  • Up-to-date Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Proven experience in long-distance and local delivery driving within the UK.
  • Excellent knowledge of road safety regulations, driving hours rules, and rest period requirements.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various types of freight and trailers (e.g., curtain-siders, flatbeds, refrigerated units).
  • Forklift operator certification (e.g., Counterbalance or Reach Truck).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
