Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and dependable Truck Drivers for both long-distance and local delivery routes, recruiting on behalf of our esteemed clients in Digbeth, Birmingham. This pivotal role involves the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various destinations, contributing directly to the smooth flow of supply chains. As a crucial link between suppliers and customers, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of transported items, adhering strictly to delivery schedules, and ensuring optimal customer satisfaction through professional conduct. Key Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) safely and efficiently, performing both long-distance hauls and local deliveries.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Load and unload goods carefully, ensuring proper securing and weight distribution to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local traffic laws, driving regulations, and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, digital tachograph records, and other necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, and issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, representing our clients professionally.
- Manage time effectively to meet tight delivery deadlines and optimise route efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Working Time Directives (WTD) and health and safety regulations at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) driving license.
- Current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial truck driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Excellent knowledge of UK road networks and driving regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks and prolonged driving periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various trailer types (e.g., curtain-siders, refrigerated units, flatbeds).
- Certification in Manual Handling.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- Geographic familiarity with the West Midlands region.
