Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and successfully complete all required truck driver training modules and practical sessions.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and provincial/federal transportation regulations during training and subsequent driving duties.
- Learn and diligently perform comprehensive pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure operational safety.
- Master techniques for securing various types of cargo safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Develop advanced skills in defensive driving, fuel-efficient operation, and emergency procedures for commercial vehicles.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, manifests, bills of lading, and other required documentation digitally and manually.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, clients, shippers/receivers, and other team members.
- Ensure timely and safe delivery of goods, adhering to schedules and client requirements, upon completion of training.
- Commit to continuous learning and professional development, staying updated on industry best practices and regulations.
- Practice proactive hazard identification and mitigation to ensure a safe working environment.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record (abstract required).
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. independently and safely.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and adherence to all regulatory guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies within the industry.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for performing routine vehicle checks and minor troubleshooting.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and criminal record check.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Familiarity with local Richmond, Greater Vancouver, and lower mainland road networks.
- Previous experience in a role requiring significant driving or operating heavy machinery.
- Proven customer service experience with a focus on problem-solving.
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or willingness to learn.
