Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class 1 (Category C+E) vehicles safely and efficiently in compliance with all road transport legislation and company policies.
- Conduct pre-use vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
- Transport goods to various destinations, ensuring timely deliveries and collections.
- Load and unload vehicles as required, safely and securely, utilizing appropriate equipment.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including logbooks, manifests, and electronic tracking systems.
- Adhere strictly to tachograph regulations and working time directives.
- Ensure the safety of the vehicle, load, and other road users at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members.
- Represent the company professionally to clients and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Driving License.
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Excellent knowledge of UK road transport regulations.
- Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Strong communication skills and a good command of English.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Demonstrable commitment to safety and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of freight and trailers (e.g., refrigerated, curtainsider).
- ADR (Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) certification.
- Forklift operator license.
- Previous experience driving in urban and rural environments across Scotland.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance.
