As a Truck Driver with Career.zycto, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various routes within London and occasionally to surrounding regions. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) for various clients.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure loads are properly secured and comply with weight distribution limits.
- Plan and follow efficient routes, utilizing GPS and local knowledge to ensure timely deliveries.
- Adhere strictly to all road traffic laws, HGV regulations, and company safety procedures.
- Complete delivery paperwork accurately and on time, obtaining necessary signatures.
- Maintain open communication with dispatch and clients regarding delivery status or any potential issues.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents promptly and accurately.
- Represent the company professionally to clients, warehouse staff, and the general public.
- Manage working hours in compliance with tachograph regulations and driver's hours laws.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) driving license.
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of professional Heavy Goods Vehicle driving experience.
- Clean driving record (minimal points, no serious endorsements).
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and basic vehicle maintenance checks.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including loading/unloading assistance when required.
- Excellent navigational skills and familiarity with London road networks.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
- A strong work ethic and commitment to reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with temperature-controlled logistics or specific freight types (e.g., hazardous goods).
- Forklift operator certification (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach).
- Knowledge of dangerous goods regulations (ADR certification).
- First Aid certification.
- Proven track record of punctuality and reliability demonstrated through references.
- Multilingual abilities, especially relevant to London's diverse population.
