Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy-duty trucks (tractor-trailer combinations) for long-haul routes.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of freight, adhering to schedules and regulations.
  • Secure cargo properly according to safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain detailed daily logbooks, trip reports, and all required documentation (e.g., bills of lading, inspection reports).
  • Adhere strictly to all provincial, federal, and company safety regulations, including hours of service (HOS) rules.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding delays, incidents, or delivery issues.
  • Perform minor roadside repairs if necessary and report mechanical issues promptly.
  • Represent the company professionally and courteously at all times.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 1 (or A) commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement.
  • Minimum 3 years (36 months) of verifiable long-haul truck driving experience.
  • Clean commercial driver's abstract/record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Medical fitness to perform the duties of a commercial truck driver.
  • Strong understanding of load securement techniques and regulations.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English communication.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to traffic laws.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various trailer types (e.g., flatbeds, reefers, dry vans).
  • Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Cross-border driving experience (Canada-US).
  • Familiarity with Grande Prairie and Alberta's major transportation routes.
  • Additional certifications such as Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
