Key Responsibilities
- Operate tugboats for towing, pushing, and maneuvering vessels and barges in harbors, rivers, and canals.
- Execute precise docking and undocking operations for various types of ships.
- Adhere strictly to all national and international maritime laws, regulations, and company safety procedures.
- Perform pre-voyage checks, monitor vessel systems, and conduct routine maintenance as required.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and submit detailed reports on operations, incidents, and equipment status.
- Communicate effectively with port authorities, pilots, other vessels, and shore-based personnel.
- Ensure the safety of the crew, vessel, and cargo at all times.
- Assist with mooring and unmooring operations and secure tow lines properly.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, including fire, man overboard, and mechanical failures.
Required Skills
- Valid Master's or equivalent license for tugboat operations in relevant waterways.
- Proven experience as a Tug Boat Operator, preferably in a port environment or inland waterways.
- Strong navigational skills and knowledge of marine traffic rules.
- Proficiency in operating marine communication systems (VHF radio, radar).
- Excellent understanding of vessel stability, towline mechanics, and weather interpretation.
- Ability to perform basic vessel maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Fluent in English and German (for local communication).
- Physical fitness and ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific tugboat propulsion systems (e.g., Azimuth Stern Drive, Voith Schneider).
- Knowledge of Potsdam and Brandenburg waterways.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
