Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring sessions in students' homes across Nandi County.
- Assess students' current academic levels and identify specific learning gaps or areas needing improvement.
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's learning style, curriculum requirements (KCPE/KCSE), and academic goals.
- Explain complex concepts clearly and concisely, using a variety of teaching methods and materials.
- Help students develop effective study habits, organizational skills, and test-taking strategies.
- Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust teaching approaches as needed.
- Prepare students for upcoming tests, quizzes, and national examinations.
- Maintain open and regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Keep accurate records of tutoring sessions, student performance, and learning objectives.
- Uphold professional standards and ethical conduct, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment.
Required Skills
- Fluency in English and Swahili
- Proven subject matter expertise in at least two core academic subjects (e.g., Mathematics, English, Sciences, Kiswahili, History)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for teaching and helping students succeed.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and individual needs.
- High degree of professionalism and reliability.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (for home visits).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Teaching certification from a recognized institution.
- Experience tutoring students for KCPE, KCSE, or similar national examinations.
- Familiarity with the Kenyan 8-4-4 or CBC curriculum.
- Previous experience in a tutoring center or as a private tutor.
